Bios Black Band Disease In Coral - 9 BHS
Posted by Bermuda High School, Bermuda on 19 June 2015

I learned in BIOS that the coral in Bermuda can get stressed because of the tempurture of the ocean and the carbon dioxide falling into the ocean, slowly making the ocean more acidic. I learned that when the brain coral gets really stressed that there is this type of disease called "Black band disease" that eats away at the healthy tissue until the coral is dead. Black band disease doesn't just attack brain coral and can be seen in 42 different species.
