Post related to The water we eat, Secret Water

Did you know that it takes 115 litres of water to make just one can of coke?? I didn’t know this before I entered the Water We Eat Challenge. Sugary drinks like sodas require vast quantities of sugar (that’s part of the reason they are so yummy but dangerously addictive!!). To exact all that sugar, water intensive sugar cane needs to be grown, harvested, transported, juiced and crystallised into sugar. This all takes so much water. Using a picture game to reveal the true cost of food on our water supplies, children then designed their own Water Footprint and made simple pledges to swap out water intense foods like soda's, coffee, milk and meat for greener, more sustainable options like vegetables, tea and fruit.
