In our school of seven hundred students, we have reduced the water pressure in our 36 sinks. We conducted an experiment to test how much water is dispensed from the tap each time we use the sink. Initially, we were able to fill two 50 cl bottles of water in one use of the tap. Now, after reducing the water pressure, the water bottle is filled with only 20 cl of water in one use of the tap. In doing so, we were able to dramatically reduce the amount of water that was not utlilized by students in the everyday use of our sinks. Before reducing the water pressure, we wasted more than 700 litres of water a day. After reducing the water pressure, we are saving 560 litres of water a day. Overall, we are able to save and use water more efficiently.
