Giant Pillows of Water

A Few Water Bladders
A Few Water Bladders

This year lots has been going on in our town of Hermanus. One noticeable change where we live are all the new houses taking up the once empty plots. With all this building there is also a lot of renovating.

On one occasion we were taking our dog for a walk and we noticed a giant bag that was on someone's lawn. We walked up to it and touched the 'pillow'. There was water inside. Someone had a giant plastic pillow of water! But what for? We called the builders and asked them, they informed us that they were renovating a pool at the house and that they had pumped out all the water into the pillow so that it could be reused once the pool was ready again!

After doing a bit of research we found out that these 'pillows' are better known as water storage tanks or a water bladder and can be purchased at Flexitank in Somerset Helderberg. They can store up to 20'000 litre of water so are mainly used for storage of bulk water. Perfect for pool water storage whilst servicing. Easy to transport and fraction of the price of tanks.

Usually, you would drain the water out and it would all go to waste, but here they had saved it all. All those thousands of litres! It was very encouraging to see it.
