ROCKY SHORE ECOSYSTEMS
On the 20th to 22nd of May the Water explorer team visited Thomas more College in Kloof at Durban. We together with Thomas more College Grade 8 learners, went to Isipingo Beach to do Rocky shore intertidal survey. We found organisms like anemones, barnacles, crabs, mussels, snails, limpets and green algae. We also noticed that humans do impact negatively on the rocky shore ecosystems through pollution, and destruction of habitats. We used tools like transects and quadrats to subsample an area where we identified these organisms to assess their abundance and distribution.
