The Grade 4s have been growing heirloom beans in our outdoor classroom food garden.  They planted the beans and then made watering cans from cooldrink bottles.  The watering cans were filled from the Jojo tank to conserve groundwater. Once the beans had sprouted and started to grow, each week, they measured and recorded the growth of the plants and wrote down observations about leaf shapes, margins, number of leaves, flower shapes, colour and number of flowers. The beans are begginning to form pods and soon, they will be ready to harvest!
