At our school we have drain of grey water that opens up into a grassy wet patch. It is typically very green with Kikuyu grass and alot of litter gets dumped here too. We have decided to clean up this area and replant with 8 different wetland/water loving plants such as Arum lilies, carex grass, sedges, river star, dietes, kniphofia and others. These will help to take up the excess nutrients and encourage biodiversity back into our school. We have planted them and we will fence the area . We are also planning on making signage for the different plants so that we can learn their names. We will also make a sign for our wetland so that all our learners in our school will be able to benefit from what we have learned and hopefully appreciate this small effort.
