The Grade R educators and 66 learners built a vegetable and herb garden on the grade R premises. We combined this activity with the "Dirt is good" initiative celebrated on 17th May. The staff dug up the garden area and used eco-bricks to form the borders of the gardens. The garden was shaped as a flower with each petal holding a specific vegetable- they planted cabbage, green peppers and lettuce. To avoid pesticides the learners planted marigolds. The garden is watered using grey water harvested from the Grade R premises. The learners made posters of their veggie and herb garden and the photos of the entire process as well as the posters will be displayed at our water festival on 15th June.
