The catch of the Day

Bambanani School is located in a beautiful but remote part of the world many kilometers away from the town. Many of the households dont have tap water and need to depend on the river to supply water for their cooking, washing and drinking needs. Although this area is a relatively " wet" area by South Africa standards- the people here relize that they need to safegaurd their fresh water supplies if they are going to continue their self sufficient life styles. Doing the mini sass today was a very revealing exercise. Looking at how the quality of the water determines the typ of lifeforms that exist, learners were able make the connection between our upstream activities and the impact on downstream life. Later this year, Bambanani School  is hoping to hold a workshop to upskill their communities in issues petaining to river health- " After all, healthy rivers, mean healthy people and at the end of the day- we need to learn to live harmonously with nature" says euthusiastic Eco-School teacher, Mr Frank..
